Chief Executive Officer at S. R. Knight Group, LLC, Stephen Knight brings over 20 years of extensive business experience in both the public and private health care sectors allowing a distinctive insight in developing a business strategy winnable in the Federal Market competition. Prior to joining S. R. Knight Group, LLC, Mr. Knight was the Senior Executive Director, Health Care Business Development, at four Fortune 200 companies providing expertise in implementing multi-million dollar business and marketing initiatives across the federal, state, and commercial sectors. In addition, Mr. Knight was Executive Vice President Government Affairs, for a patient advocate organization, a policy organization that seeks to improve access to care through regulatory and policy initiatives at the state and federal level. He was responsible for providing executive leadership to promote a collaborative strategic plan implementing federal and state public policy and regulatory initiatives advanced by the patient advocate organization.
Prior to working in the private sector, Mr. Knight spent twelve years as a Senior Policy Analyst, within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs), Pentagon. He was officially commended for exceptionally competent service as a staff adviser to the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs) on matter and issues pertaining to the development, acquisition, implementation, and operation oversight/management of managed care programs. In addition, he served on the Source Selection Advisory Committee to provide review and selection of the multi-billion dollar managed care procurements. His broad administrative and technical expertise significantly contributed to extra-ordinary policy and resource improvements for the Department of Defense TRICARE health care benefit program. Mr. Knight also served on several health care task committees sponsored by the White House and federal agencies, and worked closely with congressional staff on health care policies and regulations.
Mr. Knight also served on several mental healthcare task committees sponsored by the White House and Federal agencies, and closely worked with Congressional staff and members of the Committees of Jurisdiction on healthcare policy and regulation. His background included being the Director, Substance Abuse Program, at the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York where he implemented the first peer to peer counseling program. The program offered an opportunity for the cadets to exchange ideas about alcoholism and drug abuse in a leadership role and having the understanding of assisting troops in need. The program was such a success the cadets assisted other schools such as Tufts University and Dartmouth University in implementing a peer to peer program. In addition, he was the Senior Program Coordinator, Department of the Army, Pentagon, Alcohol and Drug Technical Activity, Washington, D.C. His responsibilities included recommendations for improved staffing, funding, training, equipment and facility improvements at the 190 Counseling Centers worldwide.
A Native of Indiana, Mr. Knight graduated from the University of Tennessee where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education. His further academic achievements include a Master of Public Administration Degree from New York University.
